Races
Formula Student (FS) is an international engineering design competition first held by the Society of Automotive Engineers in 1979. Now, with more than 300 student teams worldwide, it is the most established educational engineering competition in Europe. This competition offers a unique way to test students’ theoretical knowledge in a practical context. Besides the engineering and racing aspects, the FS is about students developing other skills such as designing, presenting, and creating a business plan. For many years, the race has consisted of three classes: combustion, electric, and driverless. This year, we will be the first team to participate in a new classification in France, the hydrogen class. By participating in our hydrogen-driven racecar, we hope to pave the way for other teams to make the switch to hydrogen and create a real Formula Student hydrogen competition.

Accumulator inspection
During the accumulator inspection, the accumulators are tested according to the Formula Student rules. As we recently worked on some problems with our accumulator, this scrutineering went better than expected!
Business plan
We presented our business plan about creating a hydrogen network, which connetcs hydrogen providers and consumers. Judges asked critical questions and gave feedback, which we will use for improvments for FSF.
Mechanical inspection
The specialist of FSN checked the chassis, aerodynamics, driver gear, and suspension of Nebula based on every rule, making sure the car is safe to drive. After two inspections, we got little feedback which we already implemented.
Engineering design
We presented our system and explained our design thinking and design choices after which judges asked critical questions. We have learned a lot about the requirements, which allows us to prepare for FSF.
Electrical inspection
The specialist of FSN checked all PCBs, our cable wiring, and safety measures such as the shut-down circuit of Nebula. There were little points to improve, which will be implemented for FSF.
Cost & Manufacturing
The judges considered our Bill of Material (BOM) for the complete vehicle, our Cost Understanding, and a Real Case. As we had no prior experience, we have gathered a lot of knowledge to make improvements for FSF.
